Bar 9: Our Coffee

Nothing is more important to us than our beans and how they are cared for from the farmers crop, right up until your cup

At Bar 9 we have teamed up with specialist boutique roaster, 5 Senses Coffee. 5 Senses bring with them a commitment to quality coffee that is unseen to date in South Australia. Our coffee is roasted to order and blended and aged on site. We simply won't serve it until we are confident that it is tasting at it's peak.

Three blends are offered on a day to day basis, White label, Black lable and Barista's Blend.

White Label

Brazil - Ethiopia - Indonesia - Guatemala - Png

Used for all our milk based coffees, white label is deliciously rounded and moreish. It's flavour profile isn't too over the top allowing delicate complexities to shine through, complimenting the milk perfectly.

Look for sweet flavours of tasted malt, subtle fruitiness through the middle and a gentle toffee like sweetness.

Black Label

Used for all our black espresso coffees black label is designed for high finess, fantastic balance and complexity and an over all more interesting and enjoyable espresso or long black coffee.

Look for great body and soft flavours of golden syrup. Some nuttiness with a well-rounded aftertaste and subtle hints of spice.

Barista's Blend

This is a constantly changing blend representing the style of espresso that we baristas are enjoying at the time. To see what we mean, you'll have to just try it.

Various Single Origins

We always have on hand a selection of different single origin coffees for those of you looking to expand your horizons. Please check with the baristas to see what's tasting best on the day.

EspressoOur espresso is brewed on one of three espresso machines in house. The first is a Synesso Cyncra which has been tuned to perform in high volume to ensure to coffee it produces is remarkably consistant, flavourful and well structured.

The next two machines are a Rancilio Z8 and Z9 lever piston. These are used for straight espresso only and deliver an espresso like no other. Thick, complex with amazing body, trying an espresso through "mario" or "luigi" is a very unique experience.
SiphonSiphon is a great way to experience some of our ultra premium coffee's. Specifically roasted much lighter, this allows us to capture more of the natural essence of the bean and deliver it in a very different medium to espresso based coffee.

Very tea-like in it's consistency, the siphon brewer naturally harnesses a much sweeter brew, with a much broader spectrum of very defined flavours.
Pour OverPour-over is such a user-friendly way to differentiate between multiple brews of coffee using different origins of beans. The pour-over is quick and convenient and allows little room for error. Easy to repeat at home this is a great way to get an overall picture of what a particular origin or micro-lot of coffee has to offer
